Description

The Carbon Fiber Rear Wing for the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-Door Coupe dramatically improves rear end stability with an aggressive yet highly functional design. RENNtech€™s engineering and design teams had one clear objective; functionality without compromise. Several design iterations were explored, tested, and refined which evolved into our final and optimal solution.

RENNtech utilized the latest technology in 3D scanning, CAD surfacing, CFD analysis, and 3D-print prototyping in order to fully develop the AMG GT 4-Door Rear Wing assembly. The CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum mounting brackets are designed to be a direct fit into the OEM GT63 wing base. No permanent modifications to the vehicle are required.

Each wing element is expertly crafted in Germany, with the highly accurate pre-preg carbon fiber manufacturing process; producing superior surface quality and ensuring an OEM standard level of fitment. Finished off in a high-gloss UV protectant coating and assembled with custom Titanium hardware, this RENNtech carbon fiber rear wing is a must have for any AMG GT 4-Door Coupe enthusiast.

What exactly is prepreg carbon fiber?

Prepreg is widely known as the finest process in carbon fiber manufacturing and has been used for aerospace and military applications because of its superior consistency in weight, thickness, fitment, resin, carbon layout, and overall quality.

The pre-impregnated (prepreg) fiber method creates stiffer, stronger laminates with controllable, predictable results which is a consistent, tight fiber weave that not only looks amazing, but adds strength. Most carbon fiber companies use a lower cost, wet-layup or infusion method which results in components of inferior strength, appearance, and overall quality.

To explain this process in short, the fiber is pre-impregnated (hence the name) with resin at a production facility, rolled on spools, and kept in a controlled environment to prevent the resin from curing prematurely. This material is then cut and hand laid into a mold to the proper thickness and cured at strictly controlled temperatures. This process creates a laminate with a precisely controlled resin volume and in turn is 20-30% stiffer and stronger than an equivalent thickness wet laminate process.

This ensures our customers receive components which not only look good on the vehicle standing still, but won€™t crack, warp, fall off or fade when mounted to the exterior of their vehicle after six months or while driving at high speed.
